Bryan Chastain's 1978 Cobra II |
|
|
Here are some photo's of my 78 CobraII. It has a 302 and a 4-speed trans.
I have owned the Black Snake for almost 3 years now. My wife said I was
like a little kid begging for a piece of candy till I got my way and I
bought it.
The car takes me back to some fond memories. When I was 14 my brother happened to own a 76 II. His had a 6cyl and a 4-speed, it was way cool. One of my sisters one day while my brother was out of town said, lets go for a drive. She said I know where the keys are. It was the time of my life, as she let me drive it. How poetic, the first car I ever drove was a Mustang II. It's been love ever since. For many years everywhere we (my family) drove, I would say, there goes a mustang (regardless of the year). I think that comes from not just my love for Mustangs, but some of my brothers buddies had stangs as well. I grew up around them. I had to get one for myself. A week after I brought it home, my sister that let me drive that day came over. I told her, hey sis, I got something to show you. We went in the garage. She yelled, no way. She immediately opened the door and got in the driver seat, and started it up. After a minute, she turned it off. With both hands on the wheel, she was grinning ear to ear and completely silent for several minutes. She finally got out, looked at me, and said she brings back a lot of good memories don't she? It was that moment when an amazing feeling hit me. It's the same one I get everytime I take it out for a drive. One of the coolest things when I take it out, my boy who is now 14 ( what a coincidence ) tags along. He loves it just as much as I do. Both my girls love Mustangs too. They can spot a Stang a mile away. They have gotten really good at picking them out. My wife always says, will you guys stop already. Don't let her fool you though. Every chance we get she asks, we taking the Stang out? My plan is to do a total resto in the near future to take it back to as close as original as possible. Since finding this site (wicked cool it is, everyone is great, lots of knowledge, and I've gotten some parts from a few of you - many thanks) and becoming a member, I see some of the other stories shared and decided to share mine. If this makes it for Car of the Month, Shhhhhh, my brother after all these years still don't know we took out his Stang. |
